Something for Everyone: San Antonio October Events

Leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping (sort of), and next week marks the first day of October--the first true mark of autumn in our opinion. The Alamo City has lots of fun events to take part in, so check out our list of things to do to kick off the start of fall!

  1. Food trucks: Each weekday for lunch check out the selection of rotating food trucks in Travis park from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  2. Downtown Local Sounds Concert: This concert experience is free and great for locals and visitors, children and adults! Head down to the Arneson River Theatre at La Villita on October 1 from 2-6 p.m.

  3. Taste of Downtown: Who doesn't love beef fajita street tacos, margaritas, BBQ chicken pizza, horchata ice cream...we could go on! Downtown Tuesday brings you an amazing three-course menu with music, dancing, and entertainment on Tuesday, October 3 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and proceeds benefit the United Way.

  4. Fall Fest: Texas A&M-San Antonio hosts their annual Fall Fest event on Saturday, October 21 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. This free event will feature live entertainment, a bounce house, pumpkin patch, and fun games for all ages!

  5. Haunted Evening of Swim at the Natatorium: All ages are welcome to take part in this year's evening swim theme, Alice in Wonderland, on Saturday, October 21 from 6-8 p.m.

  6. Opera in the Park: The annual, free, Opera in the Park takes place on Saturday, October 21 at 7 p.m. in Travis Park. Come out to enjoy a memorable night of music and food trucks with the whole family!

  7. Trunk or Treat: The City of Schertz and Schertz Family YMCA host a family-friendly trunk or treat event featuring a costume contest, hay ride, pumpkin patch pictures, maze, and much more! A movie in the park will follow the festivities with the showing of Hotel Transylvania 2, which begins at 9 p.m.

  8. Halloween in Travis Park: get a head-start on the Halloween festivities by attending a pre-trick-or-treat pumpkin patch, where 200 pumpkins will be given away. Beetlejuice will be showing at sundown and food trucks will be onsite!
